My vote is to return them to the store (they said we could test them out for 2 weeks and return them if it didn't work out).
They are too expensive (~$10 a week for bedding, plus food, etc.), too fragile (the kids like to squeeze them and carry them all over the place), and too much work (cleaning the cage every few days, and making sure the kids don't kill them).
